SEBASTOPOL

Sebastopol has the 2nd highest percentage of older adults in Sonoma County.  It is also designated as a "Slow City" which includes this vision statement

"Together, we work to encourage a balanced, human paced lifestyle and to maintain a healthy, vibrant community that is environmentally, socially and economically connected, healthy and resilient".

The Gravenstein Chapter of Health Action has formed an Age Friendly Task Force that meets monthly on the 2nd Thursday, 3 p.m. at Sonoma Specialty Hospital. In partnership with the Sebastopol Certified Emergency Response Team, they are promoting participation in the Map Your Neighborhood (MYP) program, which seeks to connect neighbors of all ages in emergency preparedness activities.

The Task Force is engaged in a strategic planning process to determine current age friendly practices and how to  encourage further progress toward an age friendly community.
